Softball Preview: Brawley Wildcats vs. Mt. Carmel Sundevils

The Brawley Wildcats will head out to challenge the Mt. Carmel Sundevils at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Brawley will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

On Wednesday, Brawley got the win against Holtville by a conclusive 12-2.

Arriana Garcia spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Isabella Yescas was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caitlyn Padilla, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Mt. Carmel was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They fell just short of Mission Vista by a score of 2-1.

Mt. Carmel also got a good showing from Sirena Castro, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Mt. Carmel saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Grimaud, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Brawley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-13 record this season.
