Softball Preview: Lynn Camp Wildcats vs. Model Patriots

Lynn Camp is 0-5 against Model since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Lynn Camp Wildcats will look to defend their home field against the Model Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lynn Camp took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Williamsburg a 10-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Lynn Camp considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Model made sure to put some runs up on the board against Jellico on Saturday. Model blew past Jellico 16-0. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for Model this season.

Kendall Maggard made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Maggard was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-2 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Model let Rylli Hunt and Claire Garner loose on the outfield. Hunt scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Garner scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Josie Williams was another key contributor, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
