Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jaylee Townsend and Nyomi Hahn Lead Marion to Victory

Marion's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the New Haven Bulldogs by a score of 49-41. This was payback for the Giants, who suffered a 47-30 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Leading Marion to victory were Nyomi Hahn and Jaylee Townsend. Hahn went 8 for 17 on her way to 18 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals, while Townsend dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 boards. Hahn's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mezie Allen, who posted seven points and five steals.

Marion moved to 5-6 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for New Haven, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the loss, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.

Marion will venture away from home to take on Kokomo at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Kokomo is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.3 points per game this season. As for New Haven, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 44-33 win against Fort Wayne South Side on the 18th.
