Softball Recap: Walton Comes Up Short

If Walton was feeling good fresh off their 11-1 takedown of Second Baptist last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Walton Braves lost 11-4 to the South Walton Seahawks on Tuesday. The Braves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Seahawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Walton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Raina Pitts, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. The dominant performance gave Pitts a new career-high in RBI. Riley Wright also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Walton has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. South Walton's win bumped their record up to 4-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walton will venture away from home to face off against Rutherford at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be Rutherford's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. After both having extra time off, South Walton and Paxton will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field one another at 6:00 p.m. on March 25th. Paxton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
