Volleyball Recap: Phelps Takes a Loss

Phelps saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lourdes. Phelps has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Keira Riihimaki paced Phelps' offense, picking up three kills. Riihimaki got some help from Haylee Barnekow and her two assists. Finally, Riihimaki was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high two blocks.

Phelps' defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Lourdes, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Phelps will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Wabeno/Laona at 7:00 p.m. on October 9. As for Lourdes, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Three Lakes on the 20th.
