Volleyball Recap: Amherst Takes a Loss

Amherst was the 2-0 winner over Nebraska Christian when they last played one another back in August of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Broncos fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The Broncos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Amherst saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Breckyn Layne Veskerna had 13 digs and one assist.

Leading Nebraska Christian to victory were Adeline Hunnicutt and Katie Sidak. Hunnicutt had 30 assists and eight digs, while Sidak had ten digs. Hunnicutt is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in each of the last 22 games she's played dating back to last season.

Amherst's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Nebraska Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Amherst has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Holdrege on the 2nd. As for Nebraska Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Gibbon on the 2nd.
