Softball Recap: Wheeling Takes a Loss

After flying high against Elk Grove on Monday, Wheeling came back down to earth. The Wildcats came up short against the Prospect Knights on Wednesday, falling 24-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in April.

Viansa Pollina made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Wheeling has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Prospect, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 21-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wheeling will square off against Hersey at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Huskies will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Prospect, they will challenge Elk Grove at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
