Basketball Game Preview: Lake Arthur Panthers vs. Elida Tigers

Lake Arthur is 0-7 against Elida since January of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Lake Arthur Panthers take on the Elida Tigers at 5:00 p.m.

Lake Arthur is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were beaten by Melrose 54-13. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while the Buffaloes are ranked 38th).

Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for Elida, as they earned their first road win of the season. They secured a 43-38 W over Dexter on Tuesday.

Lake Arthur's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Elida, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Lake Arthur suffered a grim 44-21 defeat to Elida in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Lake Arthur avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
