Baseball Recap: Dixie Takes a Loss

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Dixie and Greenwood Christian meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Hornets lost 11-5 to the Hawks. The Hornets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hawks earlier this season, when they won 7-3.

Dixie's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Greenwood Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Dixie will venture away from home to take on Thornwell at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Saints have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Greenwood Christian, they are taking a road trip to square off against Spartanburg Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season.
