Grapevine Faith Christian extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 3-0. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Atlas HomeSchool Rattlers 69-35. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lions' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 449th, while the Rattlers are ranked 1000th).
Grapevine Faith Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Austin Cosby out in front who threw for 180 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. The Lions' leading receiver Noah Smith was Cosby's top target yet again, picking up 108 receiving yards and one TD, while also punching in one rushing score.

Grapevine Faith Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Canon Hunter, Corbin Irwin, and Jackson Walker picked up one apiece. Irwin has been hot, having also posted seven or more total tackles the last five times he's played. Hunter got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Grapevine Faith Christian, racking up 21 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Smith, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
As for Atlas HomeSchool, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6. On the bright side, the 35- point performance marked their highest-scoring game to date.
Defeat or not, Atlas HomeSchool got some senior leadership from Carter McKinney and Alex Davis. McKinney picked up 148 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Davis gained 138 total yards and a touchdown.
Coming up, Grapevine Faith Christian will welcome Lake Country Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.25 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Atlas HomeSchool, they will head out to take on John Paul II at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals' defense has only allowed 11 points per game this season, so the Rattlers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
