Recap: Cambridge Springs Devils vs. Maplewood Tigers

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Cambridge Springs Devils had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They breezed by Maplewood at home to the tune of 42-8. Considering Cambridge Springs has won nine contests by more than 19 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Cambridge Springs found their leader in underclassman Brett Kania, who rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Kania was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 62 yards. Brandon Hoover got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The team's defense also helped out by holding Maplewood to a paltry 167 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Cambridge Springs' ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out five times before it was all said and done. In that department, Noah Moyer was the leader with two sacks.

The victory (which was Cambridge Springs' fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-1. As for Maplewood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Cambridge Springs will square off against Eisenhower at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Eisenhower is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games. Maplewood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
