Basketball Game Preview: Hertford County Bears vs. Northeastern Eagles

The Hertford County Bears will venture away from home to challenge the Northeastern Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Hertford County will head into Tuesday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by 39) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Pasquotank County 65-63. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bears have posted against the Panthers since December 17, 2021.

Meanwhile, Northeastern got the win against Camden County on Wednesday by a conclusive 63-42. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 21 points or more this season.

Hertford County better keep an eye on Tyell Saunders. He was instrumental in Northeastern's win, putting up 26 points. Eleck Sutton was another key player, scoring 12 points and eight boards.

Hertford County pushed their record up to 5-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.3 points per game. As for Northeastern, their win bumped their record up to 11-2.

Hertford County took a serious blow against Northeastern when the teams last played on January 7th, falling 80-46. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Hertford County was down 44-14.
