League recap: Madison Ridgeland Academy winning streak up to four games

Madison Ridgeland Academy (22-13, 6-4) has won four games in a row, MAIS AAA I District 1's longest active win streak. In the past week, the Patriots won another two games, including a 4-2 victory over Parklane Academy and a 4-2 win over Parklane Academy. The team's hottest hitter over the past week was Blake Ainsworth, who had zero hits and drove in zero runs.

Behind a 2-0 record over the past week, the Patriots made the biggest jump in the national rankings, all the way from 1657 to 1214. the Patriots are currently sitting at No. 26 in the state of Mississippi, thanks to an overall record of 22-13.

Jackson Academy boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks. The Raiders have given up a mere 186 hits on the year in addition to compiling 292 strikeouts. Matt Denny is the leader in that category with 115 Ks on the season.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Andrew Alexander, who turned in three Ks for Jackson Academy. With 60 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks second in the league.
