Baseball Game Preview: Shelbyville Golden Bears vs. Yorktown Tigers

For the second straight game, Shelbyville will face off against Yorktown. The Golden Bears will venture away from home to face off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Shelbyville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Shelbyville took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Yorktown by a score of 7-4. The Golden Bears haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Aiden Smith made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Smith was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Grantland Fitzgerald was excellent, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Gavin Reed was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Shelbyville's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Yorktown, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-8 record.
