Softball Recap: East Union Finds Playoff Glory Versus Pisgah

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only East Union walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Pisgah Dragons on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Urchins, who have now won 21 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Ali Cooper and Adison Russell did most of the damage at the plate: Cooper went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Russell went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Cooper has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Lilly Mae Watson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

East Union hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.

East Union is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Pisgah, with the defeat, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 26-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: East Union beat the Dragons by a score of 12-1 on Friday.
