Basketball Preview: West Warwick Wizards vs. Coventry Oakers

West Warwick is 1-6 against the Oakers since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The West Warwick Wizards will head out on the road to square off against the Coventry Oakers at 5:00 p.m. West Warwick has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 369 points over their last six matchups.

West Warwick pushed their score all the way to 58 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of North Providence by a score of 61-58.

Despite their loss, West Warwick saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Dylan Viveiros, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Viveiros is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Owen Stearns, who scored 13 points along with three steals.

Meanwhile, Coventry came up short against the Raiders on Friday and fell 46-37. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Coventry has scored all season.

The losing side was boosted by Tyler Broady, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 18 points for four straight games.

West Warwick's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Coventry, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7.

West Warwick didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Oakers when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 67-61 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Warwick since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
