Basketball Recap: Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri Extends Winning Streak to Five

Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri came tearing into Thursday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They snuck past Frontier School of Excellence with a 52-46 victory. For the Crusaders, this counts as revenge for the 60-58 win Frontier School of Excellence walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Joachim Burton out in front who posted 24 points and five rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Burton has scored at least a third of Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri's points. Phil Basola was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 13 boards.

Frontier School of Excellence's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Henry Uti, who had 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. Uti is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Nate Grayes, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards.

Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Frontier School of Excellence, their loss dropped their record down to 11-3.
