Preview: Montgomery Catholic Knights vs. T.R. Miller Tigers

Montgomery Catholic has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the T.R. Miller Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Montgomery Catholic is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than T.R. Miller in Alabama (Montgomery Catholic is ranked 22nd, while T.R. Miller is ranked 88th).

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Montgomery Catholic had no problem doing just that on Friday. They claimed a resounding 48-7 win over West Blocton at home. Considering Montgomery Catholic has won ten contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Montgomery Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caleb Mccreary led the charge by throwing for 233 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Jj Williams, who gained 157 total yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, T.R. Miller didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Anniston on Friday, but they still walked away with a 20-16 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for T.R. Miller.

Montgomery Catholic's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.9 points per game. As for T.R. Miller, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Montgomery Catholic didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against T.R. Miller in their previous matchup back in October of 2019, but they still walked away with a 26-21 win. Will Montgomery Catholic repeat their success, or does T.R. Miller have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
