Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Riverdale

Riverdale extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 14-3 in the process. Everything went their way against the Orion Chargers as they made off with a 15-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won nine matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Riverdale got a massive performance out of Katie Cox, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Cox has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Breckin DeLaRosa, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

As for Orion, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-14. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 20, 2023, but that streak is no more.

On Orion's side, Kadence Hammer was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run. That home run was Hammer's first of the season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverdale will face off against Princeton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Orion, they will challenge Mendota at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Chargers are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
