Baseball Recap: Luray Drops Highest Score of Season Against Stonewall Jackson

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Luray). They put the hurt on the Stonewall Jackson Generals with a sharp 12-2 win on Thursday. The Bulldogs have beaten the Generals the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Generals has come to flipping the script.

Landon Wood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nick Cubbage, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trey Guzy, who got on base in 11 of his 13 plate appearances with one RBI.

Luray always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .684. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got Luray back to even at 7-7. As for Stonewall Jackson, they dropped their record down to 2-12 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
