Baseball Game Preview: Coon Rapids Cardinals vs. Elk River Elks

The Coon Rapids Cardinals will head out to square off against the Elk River Elks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Coon Rapids is leaving town to face Elk River after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Cardinals lost 12-1 to Centennial on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Elk River came up short against Osseo on Wednesday and fell 4-1. The Elks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Coon Rapids came out on top in a nail-biter against Elk River when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
