Football Recap: Central Cabarrus Drops Highest Score of Season Against West Cabarrus

Central Cabarrus fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against West Cabarrus on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 41-38. On the bright side, the 38- point effort marked the Vikings' highest-scoring contest to date.

Despite the loss, Central Cabarrus still got an impressive performance from Damonte James, who rushed for 173 yards and three scores while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. James is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 102 every time he's taken the field this season. Chris Ikana also deserves some recognition as he posted his first receiving yards of the season.

Central Cabarrus has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for West Cabarrus, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-4.
