Baseball Recap: Walters Triumphs

Walters was handed a 12-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Velma-Alma Comets 11-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Devils have posted since April 12, 2024.

GAGE SANSOME made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season.

In other batting news, CASH THOMAS and CREED SHORTT did most of the damage at the plate: THOMAS scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while SHORTT scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave SHORTT a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of LANCE MARTIN, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Walters now has a winning record of 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walters will take on Big Pasture at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Velma-Alma, they will challenge Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
