After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Madison, Scottsburg was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Eastern Musketeers as they made off with a 13-5 win. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Musketeers: they've now won four in a row.
Garrett McClellan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Brandt Kendall was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Paxton Copple, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Scottsburg's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Eastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Scottsburg will square off against Borden at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Eastern, they will face off against Lanesville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
