Baseball Recap: Berne Union Comes Up Short

Berne Union has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging three runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They lost 13-1 to the Teays Valley Vikings. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Rockets have suffered since May 7, 2024.

This is the second loss in a row for Berne Union and nudges their season record down to 9-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-3 Bishop Rosecrans (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 70.7% over those games). As for Teays Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Berne Union will host Bishop Rosecrans at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rockets 3, the Bishops 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Teays Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Lancaster at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
