In other batting news, East Paulding let Chloe Grier and Emma Hernandez run wild. Grier went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Hernandez went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI Grier has posted since back in August. Ansley Shiver was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.
East Paulding was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rome only posted a batting average of .100.
Meanwhile, New Manchester came up short against Lithia Springs on Thursday and fell 8-5.
New Manchester saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lenia Rouse, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
East Paulding has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for New Manchester, they dropped their record down to 6-11-1 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.
New Manchester's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: East Paulding hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. It's a different story for New Manchester, though, as they've only averaged .221. Will they be able to contain East Paulding's hitters?
