Softball Recap: Chapel Hill Sets Scoring Season-High Against Overton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chapel Hill). They came out on top against the Overton Mustangs by a score of 7-2 on Friday.

Layla Adler was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Those hits were her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kayda White, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Aubree Norfleet, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Chapel Hill's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-4. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs over those games. As for Overton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
