Softball Recap: Sotomayor Takes a Loss

Sotomayor managed to slip by Taft the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Sotomayor WILDCATS lost 22-5 to the Taft Raiders on Friday. The WILDCATS' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Sotomayor saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anaya Maddox, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Mariah Flores also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Sotomayor's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Taft, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.

Sotomayor will take on Warren at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Sotomayor has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Taft, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Harlan at 10:00 a.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Harlan 3.8, Taft 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
