Basketball Game Preview: Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans vs. Blackville-Hilda Fighting Hawks

They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 67-64 win over Horse Creek Academy last Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Trojans as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Blackville-Hilda had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Wagener-Salley by a score of 72-61 on Friday. The game marked the Fighting Hawks' most dominant win of the season.

Blackville-Hilda's win came from a few key players Ridge Spring-Monetta will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Messiah McFadden, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Darius Jenkins, who went 5 of 10 en route to 13 points.

Blackville-Hilda smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Ridge Spring-Monetta's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 3-12. As for Blackville-Hilda, their win bumped their record up to 3-8.
