Football Recap: Merino Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Merino fell victim to Haxtun and their airtight defense on Friday. They were dealt a 48-0 defeat at the hands of the Fightin' Bulldogs. Having soared to a lofty 51 points in the game before, the Rams' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Colin Cone produced another solid performance rushing for 156 yards and three scores on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 48 yards and one touchdown for Haxtun. Those 156 rushing yards gave Cone a new career-high.

Merino's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Haxtun, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Merino is set to face off against their familiar foe Dayspring Christian Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Haxtun will take on rival Akron at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Fightin' Bulldogs 7.7, the Rams 11.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
