Basketball Recap: Lafayette Comes Up Short

After flying high against Sunset Park last Tuesday, Lafayette came back down to earth. The Lafayette Patriots fell 39-27 to the Roosevelt Cougars on Friday. The matchup marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Lafayette has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Roosevelt, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season.

Lafayette does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Roosevelt, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Roosevelt Cougars take on the Fort Hamilton Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Roosevelt is facing Fort Hamilton at the right time seeing as Fort Hamilton is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
