Preview: North County Knights vs. Broadneck Bruins
North County is 0-8 against Broadneck since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The North County Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Broadneck Bruins at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
North County can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 40-30 victory over Severna Park.
North County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Darius Burley, who threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns on only 16 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of JaRon Holland, who picked up 130 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
North County's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. The heavy lifting was done by Martin Ohakah and Cameron Eichelberger who racked up five sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Broadneck's game on Friday was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Annapolis by a score of 35-28.
Eli Harris was the offensive standout of the contest as he picked up 175 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Cj Watkins was another key contributor, throwing for 179 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes.
North County's victory on Friday bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Broadneck, their win was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 5-2.
North County suffered a grim 49-26 defeat to Broadneck when the teams last played back in September of 2022. Can North County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
