Recap: Union Area Scotties vs. Central Valley Warriors

The Union Area Scotties fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Central Valley Warriors on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 53-51. Union Area's loss keeps them winless this season.

Union Area's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lucas Stanley, who scored 14 points along with 9 rebounds. The match was Stanley's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Grayson Blakely, who scored 16 points.

Union Area has fallen quite a ways from their 25-4 record last season and are now at 0-3. As for Central Valley, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union Area will challenge Blackhawk at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Central Valley will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Beaver at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
