Basketball Recap: Falls Lake Takes a Loss

Falls Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 69-28 defeat at the hands of the Franklin Academy Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Firebirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 580th, while the Patriots are ranked 260th).

Leading Franklin Academy to victory were Hayes Lewis and Jaden Lewis. Hayes went 7 for 10 on his way to 22 points and five rebounds, while Jaden went 7 of 11 en route to 17 points and three steals. The game was Hayes' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Micah Rutledge, who posted six points and seven boards.

Falls Lake's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Franklin Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Falls Lake has already played their next matchup (against Research Triangle), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Franklin Academy will head out to take on NCSSM: Durham at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as NCSSM: Durham comes in on three and Franklin Academy on four.
