Softball Game Preview: Polytechnic Parrots vs. North Side Steers

Polytechnic hasn't had much luck against North Side recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Polytechnic Parrots will host the North Side Steers at 1:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Polytechnic is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wyatt.

Polytechnic saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was F Espinoza, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Even though they lost, Polytechnic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, North Side didn't have quite enough to beat Paschal on Friday and fell 6-4.

Natalia Olvera spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits. What's more, she gave up only four walks, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Maggie Casteneda made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and three RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Polytechnic's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for North Side, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-6.
