Softball Recap: Steeleville Snags Eighth Win in Last Ten Games

Steeleville won the last time they faced Chester and things went their way on Saturday too. The Warriors won by a run and slipped past the Yellowjackets 3-2. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by just one run.

Corinne Mueller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits.

On the hitting side, Karsen Wedemeyer was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Zoey Wolf was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

Steeleville is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Chester, they moved to 11-10 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Steeleville will take on Valmeyer at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chester, they will challenge Murphysboro at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
