The Alhambra Moors will head out on the road to take on the Mayfair Monsoons at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Alhambra barely beat Schurr the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Alhambra's pitchers stepped up to hand Schurr a 14-0 shutout on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Moors, who have now won three matches in a row.

Isaiah Lerma and Jacob Hightower did most of the damage at the plate: Lerma scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Hightower scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those two runs gave Lerma a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Rodriguez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Alhambra always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Schurr only posted an OBP of .167.
Meanwhile, Mayfair got the win against Dominguez on Friday by a conclusive 12-5. The win continues a trend for the Monsoons in their matchups with the Dons: they've now won eight in a row.
Xavier Xilonsochilt looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gabriel Diaz, who went 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base. Tyler Brim also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Alhambra's record is now 7-2-1. As for Mayfair, their record now sits at 8-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Alhambra has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mayfair struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Alhambra came up short against Mayfair in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 6-2. Can Alhambra avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
