Recap: Carver Vo-Tech Bears vs. Dunbar Poets

After flying high against the Benjamin Franklin Bayhawks last Thursday, The Carver Vo-Tech Bears came back down to earth. Carver Vo-Tech was dealt a 62-6 loss at the hands of Dunbar on Saturday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Carver Vo-Tech in their matchups with Dunbar: they've now lost four in a row.

Carver Vo-Tech's loss came despite strong showings from Mehkai Tindal and Kwame Carpenter. Tindal picked up 118 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Carpenter only threw for 192 passing yards and failed to score a touchdown. Tindal was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 68 yards.

Leading Dunbar to victory were Savion Witherspoon and Antonio Lyde. Witherspoon threw for 235 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes, while Lyde gained 205 total yards and four touchdowns. Dashawn Parks also helped out as he racked up 101 rushing yards.

Another reason for the win was Dunbar's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jabari Torbit and Brian Collins who racked up four sacks between them.

Carver Vo-Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Dunbar, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Western Tech & Environmental Science the next time they take the field. Carver Vo-Tech will host Western Tech & Environmental Science at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, while Dunbar will host them at 9:00 a.m. on November 10th.
