Volleyball Recap: Gateway Comes Up Short

Gateway was the 3-2 winner over Aurora Central when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Olympians took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans on Thursday. While the Olympians didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Trojans 25-17 in the first set.

Gateway started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-22.

Gateway has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Aurora Central, with the win, they broke their eight-match losing streak and moved their record to 2-15.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matches. After both having extra time off, Gateway and Arvada will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on the 21st. As for Aurora Central, they will take on Regis Groff at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
