Soccer Recap: Southside Takes a Loss

If Southside was feeling good fresh off their 5-0 takedown of Jones on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Seahawks came up short against the East Carteret Mariners on Monday, falling 6-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against East Carteret this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in April.

Southside's goal came courtesy of Eliza Jones, who's now up to seven this season.

Southside has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8-1 record this season. As for East Carteret, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.

Looking ahead, Southside will take on Perquimans at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for East Carteret, they will face off against Lejeune at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. East Carteret's defense better be ready for this one: Lejeune have averaged an impressive 6.5 goals per game this season.
