Volleyball Recap: Marvin Ridge Makes It 16 in a Row at Home

Marvin Ridge entered their tilt with South Mecklenburg on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Sabres. The Mavericks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Sabres, too.

Marvin Ridge was especially dominant in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-17, 23-25, 25-21.

Despite the loss, South Mecklenburg still got an impressive performance from Phoenix Modie, who had 11 kills, four digs, two blocks, and two aces. Modie is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had five or more in each of the last 14 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Balen Spry, who had eight digs and three assists.

Marvin Ridge pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. As for South Mecklenburg, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Looking ahead, Marvin Ridge will be playing at home against West Forsyth on Saturday. As for South Mecklenburg, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on West Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
