Basketball Recap: Dublin Scioto's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Dublin Scioto had lost three straight headed into Friday's game, but Niah Smedley didn't let it get to four. The Dublin Scioto Irish enjoyed a cozy 53-34 victory over the Westerville North Warriors on Friday thanks in part to Smedley, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 15 points and six steals. She has been hot, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times she's played.

Another player making a difference was Evan Rinker, who posted 11 points and four steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in January of 2024.

Dublin Scioto's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Westerville North, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dublin Scioto will welcome Westerville South at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westerville South will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Dublin Scioto surely won't give up without a fight. Westerville North has already played their next contest (against Bexley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
