Baseball Recap: Central York Gets the Win

Central York had lost three games at home, but after bumping their record up to 5-7 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Red Land Patriots, sneaking past 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since April 17, 2024.

Kirby Eidson and Jacob Laughman did most of the damage at the plate: Eidson went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double, while Laughman went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Isaac Pakstis was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

As for Red Land, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

On Red Land's side, Liam Brenner stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those runs were Brenner's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordon McCahan, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central York will challenge Dallastown at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Red Land, they will square off against Central Dauphin East at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.92 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
