Softball Game Preview: Lake Region Thunder vs. Calvary Christian Warriors

Lake Region has won four straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Calvary Christian has won four straight on the road also dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Lake Region Thunder will host the Calvary Christian Warriors at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Lake Region's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Sebring 10-0. The victory continues a trend for the Thunder in their matchups with the Blue Streaks: they've now won nine in a row.

Makenna Meadows made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Kirsten Aldridge and Margaret Jenkins did most of the damage at the plate: Aldridge went a perfect2-for-2 with five RBI, one run, and one double, while Jenkins scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs Jenkins has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bailee Ellis, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Calvary Christian had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victor by an 8-0 margin over Tampa Catholic on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Warriors have posted against the Crusaders since March 28, 2019.

Alexis Camilleri was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Lake Region suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Calvary Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Lake Region avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
