Softball Recap: Southern Aroostook Comes Up Short

If Southern Aroostook was feeling good fresh off their 27-16 takedown of Washburn last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors came up short against the Katahdin Cougars on Tuesday, falling 11-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.

Southern Aroostook saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Ellingwood, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

Southern Aroostook's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Katahdin, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southern Aroostook will venture away from home to take on Fort Fairfield at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 21.25 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Katahdin, they will head out on the road to challenge Fort Kent at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
