Baseball Game Preview: Holy Cross Indians vs. Scott Eagles

Holy Cross is 2-8 against Scott since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Indians will take on the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Holy Cross is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Holy Cross is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Highlands.

Cooper Brue made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Chase Tully also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Scott's offense. They came up short against Simon Kenton on Tuesday, falling 7-0. The match marked the first time this year in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.

Scott saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Pulsfort, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Holy Cross' record is now 4-7. As for Scott, their record now sits at 4-4.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Holy Cross has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Scott struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Holy Cross couldn't quite finish off Scott in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 13-11. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
