Black River proved they can win big on Friday (they won by eight) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Loudonville Redbirds 8-7. The win was nothing new for the Pirates as they're now sitting on four straight.
Abbey Kiser was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits. Kiser was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Remi Dieter, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Olivia Bailey, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Black River's record now sits at 14-7. As for Loudonville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.
