Softball Recap: Brookfield Central Victorious

Brookfield Central hadn't done well against Menomonee Falls recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Lancers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Phoenix. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lancers have posted since April 28th.

Lexi Eichhorn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Shar Fernando was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Sasha Benjamins was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

The win made it two in a row for Brookfield Central and bumps their season record up to 13-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Menomonee Falls, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-15.

As of now, neither Brookfield Central nor the Phoenix have any future games scheduled.
