Baseball Recap: Elkin Comes Up Short

Elkin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 14-4 to the East Wilkes Cardinals. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Buckin' Elks of the 12-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Elkin saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonas Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Peyton Luffman was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Elkin's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for East Wilkes, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.

While Elkin had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
