Basketball Game Preview: Pike County Central Hawks vs. Prestonsburg Blackcats

The Pike County Central Hawks will venture away from home to face off against the Prestonsburg Blackcats at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Last Saturday, Pike County Central blew past Elliott County, posting a 52-17 victory.

Meanwhile, Prestonsburg hadn't done well against Paintsville recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Prestonsburg put the hurt on Paintsville with a sharp 67-44 win. The victory was nothing new for the Blackcats as they're now sitting on three straight.

Pike County Central's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Prestonsburg, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-9.

Pike County Central suffered a grim 71-50 defeat to Prestonsburg in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Pike County Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
